Mutant Wombat

I got a request to turn in something for Boise Weekly. I worked on this today instead of going to art seminar. I like how most of it turned out.... but I wish it had more of a circular pattern.

New projects- Low-fi Poster

Man, I have been super busy! I have been working on screen printing a poster for A Seasonal Disguise's album release show in a week. Holy shit... this is damn hard and I suck at it. I don't have anyone to show me or give me tips and sometimes a few people to help. WOW. I dunno if I can do this for a living. I would love to design posters though... maybe just not screen print them myself.

So, I will be selling 10X14 posters at the show for $5 or less. 2 color screen print. *sigh*

Anyways. I have also been working on a lamp project. I am painting a lampshade and lamp base for an "emerging artist" interior design (I know, wtf?!) show. There are 5 of us, I only know 1 other person in the show and I have no idea what to expect. I am hoping to really pull ahead in this one. So far my lampshade has a bunch of funny animals and a two headed bear with a lot of eyes.

3 other projects-
-a theater poster for Illustration class. Doing a poster for Foust.
-illustration about an albino peacock being loose in Boise for the Arbiter
-Ryan Johnson and I are collaborating on an illustration for the Arbiter... I am not sure what it is about... Ryan was going to explain it. But it was something about a tree and birdhouses for the Judicial branch? I think?

I did finish a few more projects. I just finished 2 different designs for a tour poster for Low-Fi. I really think this is going to look great on paper. THIS would be an awesome design to go have screen printed. I also through together a shirt design and a button design for A Seasonal Disguise.

Kelly Lynae tour poster WIP

been struggling with this poster. I dunno why I didn't take her first suggestion, which was to illustrate her song involving a cuckoo clock. I kept wanting to do a design for "a forrest on a face". But this seems much more iconic.

a super quick sketch.

and here is where it is at (with some Cropping)

glad i got a good start on it tonight. I can see the light..

*UPDATE*
step 3. finishing line drawing and adding 1 more color to give it a highlight and more texture.

*UPDATE 2*
step 4. almost done. almost almost almost. I am finding out what other text is needed for the poster. I also might add some white highlights.

also, this would maybe make for a cool shirt or art print. trying to decide if this version or the version with the band names is going in the portfolio for scholarship.

my new favorite animal

okay, so this is the world's cutest photo. Honestly, my face melted when I saw this. This makes me want a pet rat.

I was watching animal planet today and there was a tv show about raising marsupials. One of the animals on the show was a WOMBAT. HOLY FRICKEN AWESOME. Seeing a wombat run was the highlight of my week. I was giggling like a little child while my mom and brother just looked at me like I was bat-shit crazy.

Nasty Cupid for The Arbiter

Yay! I finished my cupid and he has been getting super positive feedback. He's a hit! My next assignment is an albino peacock that is lose in Boise for over a year. rad.

Outdoors Day

Here is a new poster I am working on for a new event in Boise. "Outdoors Day". A day to get kids out of the house and away from the computer and into the outdoors. I was thinking more park-like. It was suggested I do things like hiking and have kids AND adults...

but I used my creative license to change the setting and have kids only... Let's see if the boss (two high school teachers) make me change anything.

the drawing was done on paper with a brush tip pen and then it was scanned and colored in photoshop. It was really fun to work in kind of a free-hand sketch way and be very loose with forms and lines. I may try working in this style again sometime.

Tracies- Kuddly Animals

After work today, Allison and I went to Atomic Treasures, a vintage shop across the street from our work. I saw a lot of cute stuff I considered buying but noting really stuck out to me until I passed this.

First thing that came to my mind was- "Ooooh! I bet there are some cool images inside of that. And maybe some paper I can use for my artwork." Sure enough, I was right. Here is what I found inside.

WHOA! This rabbit is deliciously evil and adorable at the same time. His eyes are magnificent. I may start using them in some of my illustrations. The book also had the original tracing paper. Nice and crisp and browned from age.

sketches for my first illustration for The Arbiter

With the help and suggestion of Ryan, I decided this semester I would take an internship through The Arbiter, BSU's student paper. I am going to be illustrating for them in the News and Culture section. Just 10 images to get 1 credit.

My first assignment is for valentines day and basically anything I want to do. I've only done 2 sketches so far and sent them to the Culture Editor, Dale, to see if this is the direction he wants, or to go somewhere else.

The Cold Shoulder Pt doux

A little update- here is the drawing for my spot illustration for class. It is on chipboard that I had from some packaging. I scanned it in, in case I mess it up and have to color it digitally.

*edit* Step Two
