Okay kids, time to get serious

pssst. Yeah, you. You right there, reading my blog--even just glancing at it. LEAVE ME A COMMENT. Sheesh. I get no feedback on this thing and I have people in the streets tell me all the time that they lurk my blog... ALSO I installed a visitor counter so I would get an estimate of how often this thing is being seen.

Now that my pleading is done, down to business. For my 21st Birthday (which is THIS Sunday, in case you want to send me gifts...) I will be out of town for a week with my family on a cruise headed to SF, Seattle, and Victoria. I will be sketching SO SO SO much. INSANE AMOUNTS OF DRAWING. I will just be drunk and drawing fat cruise people like ladies with bad tans and sunburns and douchebags with bleach-tipped-spiky-gelled-hair. Are you excited for what might come out of this? I am!

*edit* did you really think I was going to have a post on here with no image? This one isn't made by me, but enjoy

another PS. Here are some photos from a show at Tender Loving Empire for the month of May "WISH YOU WERE HERE"

can you see mine?

Bear Parties are Crazy

painted and shipped this out today. In theory it is good, but it was messy and rushed a little.

This is something from my sketchbook used for a poster I will put up soon.

*edit* Here is the poster

I bought some Faber Castell pens and I plan on using them the whole week I am on my cruise. They look amazing in my watercolor moleskin sketchbook. This is a pretty boring sketch, but look at the colors! They don't bleed and get muddy!!!

Don't let me forget

I held a contest a few months back and promised folks that I would send them some drawings. I have not forgotten, but because I have taken so damn long, you will be getting some really cool stuff. Like, much larger and more detailed than before. This I WILL promise.

people I remember winning contest:

Eric Berg
The White Pine
Cathrin Haller

Okay.... I swear there were more. So help me out if you won and I can't find your name now.

Work in Progress

So, scrap that last post in my blog. That image is not being used for anything, and instead a different idea was used. Here is a thumbnail of how far Ryan and I are along on the project, which is due tomorrow. Oh Boy.

A live DVD being put out by the SLC band, The Gorgeous Hussies. Lots of work left. Still waiting on some information that needs to be put on the back. We still gotta do the DVD disk. Also gotta clean up edges, draw a stage and more.

work in progress

I am going to wait to explain what this is going to be used for, but here is a project that is due very soon. My friend and fellow illustration student, Ryan Johnson, is helping me with the project. We support one another with our strengths and weaknesses.

this is just the first sketch to really get a grasp on color, etc. The final piece will be done in watercolor and acrylic.

It is based off of Toulouse Lautrec's painting, "two women dancing at the moulin rouge".

antiques

I went out to some antique stores today looking for a very specific photo of women dancing. Didn't really find what I was looking for, though I did get some other cool images.

I also got 4 pairs of earrings, a poster of a woodblock of a train wreck and it says "oh shit!" and some really cool trinkets I want to turn into jewelry.

I scanned in the images. click on them to get a closer look.

pages from sketchbook

I have about 4 sketchbooks started. I really need to finish them up or use them more. I have a pocket moleskin that I don't like, a pocket moleskin that is a french fold, a moleskin watercolor sketchbook, a regular moleskin, and then a different brand sketchbook.

these are from my regular moleskin.

testing out new paper

I was testing out some of that old paper. I like it a lot, though I wish it were darker. But, I will still keep doing tests of mediums on it.

here is a shitty wash-portrait of me with my head down. It scanned terribly.

I like some of the reds and pinks in this piece, but make sure I never ever paint myself again. I really hate using myself as a model.

Thank god school is over

I have 1 more self portrait and a little write up left and then I am finished with school until fall. THANK GOD. I was starting to get so burnt out from school, so much that I have taken a hiatus on poster making and the like so that I can focus on my own projects.

But, still have projects going on- A DVD for SLC band, The Gorgeous Hussies. A new shirt design for A Seasonal Disguise for a mini weekend tour to Portland, Seattle, and Kennewick. A Package design for ASD's newest self titled album that is going out with the Rotating Tongues 2 Promo.

I scored an old photo album book (no photos) but the paper inside of it is this old weathered stuff I love to paint on. Like, 50 pages of it! Can't wait to use it.

This was my last sketch illustration for The Arbiter. It's to go along with the article about Boise State's giant event, Spring Fling. I saw Everclear and Reel Big Fish. lmao. I felt like I was in JR High again, surrounded by shirtless jocks and tie die tees

this was my final illustration for school. illustrated the made up word "cribbet".
